Privacy policy

Mooncove is built so we never have your data. This policy explains what that means in practice.

What Mooncove collects

Nothing. Your periods, symptoms, moods and notes are stored on your iPhone, encrypted with a key held in your keychain. We run no servers that receive them, and the app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code.

Health data

Your cycle information never leaves your device unless you choose to export it. It is never used for advertising, marketing or data mining, and is never stored by us in iCloud or anywhere else.

Automatic backup

If your iPhone backs itself up, Mooncove's data is included in that backup in encrypted form. The key that unlocks it moves with your Apple Account through iCloud Keychain, which Apple encrypts end to end. We never see either.

Backups and exports

If you make a backup file, it is encrypted with your recovery key and saved wherever you choose. Spreadsheet (CSV) exports are not encrypted, so keep them somewhere private.

Importing from other apps

Files you import from Flo, Clue or a spreadsheet are read on your iPhone and never uploaded.

Widgets

If you add a widget, a small summary (your cycle day and next date range) is kept on your iPhone for the widget to read. It's removed when you remove the widget, and widgets are hidden while your iPhone is locked.

Reminders

Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone. With discreet wording on, they never mention periods or pills.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. We receive anonymous sales reports and never see your name, card details or cycle data.

Deleting your data

In the app, Settings › Delete everything removes all your data and its encryption key from your iPhone. Because we hold no copy, there's nothing to ask us to delete.

Children

Mooncove is for adults aged 18 and over.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights over your personal data. Because Mooncove never receives it, you exercise them directly in the app: view everything, export it, or delete it. If you have a question or a complaint, contact us first; you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

This website

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. If you email us, we use your address only to reply, and delete it when you ask.
